GT Seminar II: Roger Ebert

Within the past few days we have talked about Roger Ebert and his philosophy on life. Honestly, I can say that even with my limited knowledge on Roger Ebert this man has inspired me. His outlook on life is very inspiring to me because it really made me question myself. He says, "I believe that if, at the end of it all, according to our abilities, we have done something to make others a little happier, and something to make ourselves a little happier, that is about the best we can do." It really makes me aspire to be someone that makes other people happy. In addition, to that it makes me realize that before I can make anyone else happy I must make myself happy first. Overall, Roger Ebert had a really big impact on me.
In addition to that his philosophies have helped me help others. Actually, this past weekend a friend of mine was having an exceptionally bad week. She was far too worried about helping and fixing things for other people rather than herself and that was really hurting her. So, to help her out I actually just sent her that quote. We spent a lot of time talking about it and I really think it helped open her eyes. In conclusion, I think some people manage to swim in hard situations because they can see they cant really control what happens but they can control how they react and the best way is to react in a way that makes you happy.
